In September, 2000 we opened our first store outside of Japan on Mercer street in New York. In the Fall of 2025, we celebrated 25 years at this location and the journey that it has been!
For this momentous occasion, we thought the best way to celebrate was to go back to our roots. We sought to give thanks to all of the 45R family that has helped us get to where we are today. By borrowing items from clients new and old, we turned our flagship into a gallery showcasing the lasting beauty of our pieces from the past 25 years.
We chose to focus on one our core crafts: indigo dyeing. Every piece we make tells an unfinished story. A story that is carried on by the person who wears it, each crease and sign of wear reflecting moments in their life. The beauty of indigo is its ability to materialize these memories, allowing you to carry them with you wherever you go. 
Over the course of our time in the US the brand has grown immensely, largely due to word of mouth. This has made for a very tight knit clientele who all share a passion for craft and the pursuit of beauty and quality. As the fashion world changes, continuing to foster this community has become a top priority for us.
In 2022 we celebrated our 45th anniversary of the brand. That year, we acquired our 1986 Airstream and drove it from NY all the way to our San Francisco store where it has lived for the past 3 years! We were so happy to be able to bring it back for this event. We look forward to more events featuring our Airstream on the east coast in the near future.
